Book Week begins with a sell-out event

What an excellent way to launch Kirkcudbright Book Week with our fourth sell-out event! The event in question happens on Monday March 4 when Stephen Rutt, author of Wintering: A Season with Geese, will talk about his work at Feast Cafe in St Cuthbert Street, at 11am, in an event chaired by Rosie Ilett.

Stephen is a writer and amateur naturalist, specialising in creative non-fiction prose and birds. He won the Saltire Society’s first book award, as well as the Roger Deakin award, for his debut book, The Seafarers.

His second book, Wintering was one of The Times’s best nature books of the year for 2019. The Eternal Season, his third book, has been shortlisted for the Saltire Society’s non-fiction book of the year. His writing has been published by Granta.com, The Guardian, The Scotsman and Caught By The River. He was recently shortlisted for the Wigtown Book Festival’s Anne Brown essay prize.

There are tickets available for many of the other events. Tickets, including for free events which require them, can be acquired via Eventbrite at http://www.eventbrite.co.uk or you can follow the link direct from  www.kirkcudbrightbookweek.org at https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/kirkcudbright-book-week-2024-2757849
